This review is from: Hurricane (Audio CD)
Hurricane the title track of this cd is a very fast rock n roll track. The playing is first class, the song well crafted, it should be a top 10.
The next track "Tiny Planet" is a cross between Status Quo and Chuck Berry with very modern production and a harder edge, The chorus is very catchy
Booker is my favourite. Penned about the legendary James Booker, its very much in the mould of Dr John/ Jools Holland, its a good driving piece
We have a change of vocalist for the next tune, its more of a pop tune again very well crafted and great lyrics
Helicon Boogie is a medium tempo boogie woogie in the more traditional style
Amos MIlburn's "Roomin House Boogie" gets an outing next. Great vocal performance from ben and a lot of fun!
"Mother Natures Molecules" is an upbeat tune with downbeat lyrics. The band seem to have a lot of fun on this one
"The Wasp" is an incredibly fast boogie tune that seems to feature snippets of Led Zeppelins "Rock n Roll" THe playing is amazing!
Ady Milward takes the lead on "Don't Care Who You Lay". Its a great funky tune with quirky lyrics. "you sit and watch tv, and buy the things you see, Hagaan Daaz, I just wanted Ice Cream" Cool!
The surprise track of the album is inconsequential. Very laid back, it takes a few listens, but this track has grown on me and is now one of my favourites.
This album isn't a traditional boogie album and Ben and The Band have really come up with some very original.
Its a superb album!
