This review is from: Hengest (Lost Sagas Book 1) (Kindle Edition)
This is a surprise as Webster has put together a tale of Hengest, the father of the English, in a poetical verse way that any "scop" would have been proud of. He has used Layamon, Beowulf and the fragments of other epic poems as his basis and has done a really great job of making the story of Hengest come alive to the reader. Not only is the tale here but so are all his notes and translations which are very very useful for why and how he has re-created the lost saga of "Hengest". I would recommend this most highly if you love Beowulf and a good epic read. A very good attempt at a recreation. We just need Benjamin Bagby now to set it like he has done with Beowulf in Anglo-Saxon English with his lyre. A must for any Anglo-Saxon in this world.
