Shine a light!,
This review is from: 12 LED Headlamp Headlight (Electronics)
I've been using these torches for several years now (£23 each when they first appeared!!!). The quality has fallen with the price, but they are superb value for money now: the battery life is incredible and the light output (while not dazzling) is ideal for working in enclosed lightless spaces, keeping your hands free!
There are a couple of annoying "niggles" with the current models:
1. Headband attachment to the torch is quite fragile and has a nasty habit of snapping leaving one strap dangling in your ear!
2. Battery holder contacts: +/- contact springs sometimes give poor electrical contact:- loop 2cm single strand of copper wire round each spring; bend onto metal plate below spring and solder to plate (too much heat melts plastic!)
3. Battery holder assembly; beneath the "insert this way" label is a small crosspoint screw which occasionally comes loose always worth tightening if torch is malfunctioning e.g. switching off or not switching on (jewellers' screwdriver Draper 14059 11-Piece Precision Screwdriver Set)
Apart from these "niggles" the LED torch itself is very reliable and quite robust and can be operated in 4, 8, 12 LED and "blink" modes (12 LED mode uses more power and the light ouput will start to fall after a few hours constant use: 4 LED mode seems to go on forever without dimming)
I still have the first one I bought (replaced White LEDs for red for astronomy use! Works Great!) and have gone through some half dozen others since which have supplied the above "niggles"
If you're looking for something brighter try Silverline 868718 6 LED and Krypton Head Light (batteries don't last so long!) or HEADTORCH 30 superbright LED's
