This review is from: Knitalong: Celebrating the Tradition of Knitting Together (Hardcover)
Celebrating all aspects of communal knitting, whether teaching a friend to knit, founding a Stitch'n'Bitch group, joining an online Knitalong, or knitting for charity, this book has nice little chunks of writing about every aspect, in both historical and contemporary contexts. Interspersed, are various quick-knit projects, including some really funky ideas, such as the Felted Peace Crane (knitted origami!), the very cool Meathead Hat (a cute pixie hat with a pocket!), a Felted Nest (literally, a nest for birds!), the gorgeous Eden Scarf (with dangling leaves), and the essential Recycled Sweater Pincushion. Actually, I really like the Traveling (friendship) Scarf, too. And actually, looking over this book yet again, it is full of ideas that I really like. When I started writing this review, I thought this was a nice book, but not really an essential addition to anyone's collection. I've now revised this opinion, because it truly is a lovely book (and a bargain, to boot!), and would make a great gift for a friend who knits, but a great gift to treat yourself with, too.
