This review is from: The Black Banners: Inside the Hunt for Al Qaeda (Hardcover)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
The author is an American FBI operative who infiltrated Al Queda in the years before 9/11, and he provides a chillingly convincing account of the triumphs and failures of counter-terrorism operations during the period.
The author convinces and seem an honest witness - especially interesting is his rare position of being attuned to two different and polarised cultures. Less convincing and rather irritating are the 'redacted' passages that I suspect might have more to do with the publisher than US Intelligence. Compelling reading from a unique perspective but irritatingly presented.
