This review is from: Doctor Who - The Web of Fear [DVD] (DVD)
Vivid memories of Web of Fear have been confirmed - it is the classic we thought it was. When I think of 60s Dr Who I think of gloomy black and white images, cybermen emerging from sewers, ice warriors wading through fungus, Patrick Troughton's'cosy TARDIS gang ... and - Yeti spraying webby stuff around the Underground. You knew you were going to get scared and as a kid it was the only programme that was "grown up" enough for us - The Avengers were on too late at night to be allowed to sit up. Web of Fear looks brilliant in its restored state and the continued loss of episode 3 cannot detract from the sheer glee of getting this classic into the DVD collection. The story, the characters, the sets, the intrigue, the paranoia (who is helping the Intelligence?) all blend to give us a superb story that could stand alone as a drama even if the rest of Dr Who was wiped (sorry just joking!). Phillip Morris and the restoration team should take a bow for giving us back a little piece of childhood.
