Castles, Bridges and Bazaars - better for more people,
= Durability: = Fun: = Educational:
This review is from: S.S.F. Carcassonne, castles and bridges 8th Extension, 2 - 6 players (48 201) from 8 (Toy)
We bought this to supplement our 'Carcassonne Big Box' which already has lots of variations, and is fabulous fun for just two or up to six players.
Castles, Bridges and Bazaars is a slightly more challenging expansion.
The (nicely solid wooden) bridges enable you to literally bridge from one road to another if some fiendish adversary places a blockage in the way.
The castles are played on two-piece cities and give you the ability to 'win' the same points as the next completed structure in the adjoining 6 tiles (which inevitably leads to the creation of monster cities and roads), and gives you an additional point as part of a farm.
The bazaars however are quirky, odd and better played with more people. Very basically, when a bazaar tile is laid as many tiles as there are players are drawn from the pile, laid face up, and then auctioned off, and that is where it gets very strategic - do you buy it, or sell it to someone else? There's a good few details to the essentially simple rules.
This pack is from Germany (and arrived very quickly), so the rules are in German, however they are also available as a pdf via the zmangames dot com website. [...]
