This review is from: Diary of a Mad Bride (Paperback)
Amy isn't the 'marrying kind'. Amy is a successful career woman. Amy is independent. Amy is... engaged?
Set in Manhattan, the story charts the months up to the biggest day of Amy's life, her wedding. Written in a diary format it's filled with sharp NY wit. The secondary characters are all fully formed and keep the story ticking over successfully. From the attention seeking grandmother, the bitter newly-divorced mother-in-law, the stoned caterer to the teenage cousin going through a 'goth phase'... everyone has their part to play.
Who knew weddings required so much preparation? You follow Amy's stressful journey of shopping for knock-off Vera Wang wedding dresses, to begruding that her engagement ring ISN'T a diamond to agonizing over whether she wants to change her name. Very real situations with hilarious conclusions!
A must-read for any bride-to-be and a good giggle for those of us who don't think we're 'the marrying kind'.
