Very helpful as a reference book,

The era of social media has been truly upon us for some time now. It seems that if schools, universities and even companies want to engage students and staff alike, they need to move with the times and make use of the tools of the electronic trade, as it were, that hide as many dangers as their benefits.
As such, this book is written with the educator in mind; the person that needs to make all these things possible and try hard to maintain students' engagement. It is a reference book in my opinion, as it blends the academic aspect of using social media in education with the more practical applications of it.
Many previous reviewers commented on the dry and academic nature of the text. This did not bother me much, as I come from a Higher Education background, where most of the times language can be "archaic", but I am sure that other colleagues at different levels might want something more engaging and more applied.
All in all, it is a good reference book, which covers most areas of social media and reminds us that although sometimes we take for granted that our students are more tech-savv than us, this is a) not necessarily the case and more importantly b) there are easily implementable ways of "catching up" and making their "journey" a more pleasurable one!
