Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Adventures In Terror: British Horror Collection (PC DVD) (DVD-ROM)
If you love to play adventure and mystery games then this is probably for you. All three games are very atmospheric and revolve around a local legend or ghost story. In the first game "Darkfall - lights out" you play the part of a cartographer who has been assigned to explore Fetch Rock lighthouse in which the three keepers have mysteriously vanished, nobody from the local village or surrounding area has the courage to venture there after dark save you. Once inside, you encounter the ghost of one of the former keepers and your task is to find your way around the abandoned tower and fathom out who or what is the mysterious force at work on the island which all the locals fear and which they believe to be cause of the dissappearance of the three unfortunate men."Barrowhill" revolves around a legendary stone circle which has been at the centre of a recent archeological dig, you so happen to be driving through this particular part of Cornwall when your car suddenly seizes and you cannot go back. You are held into the area around the ancient site by an unknown force and you have to explore the area and figure out what frightening, mysterious event has taken place that has caused almost everyone within the vicinity to vanish. This game is quite cerebral and does take some thinking before you will know what your ultimate task is. The only other character you encounter is a cowering, frightened member of staff at the service station who has chosen to lock himself inside the office, though he is able to provide you with some information. These games are slow paced so don't expect a lot to happen at once, they may get too frustrating for some at times. The other game, the first in the "Darkfall" series, is set in an abandoned railway hotel from which all the staff vanished never to be seen again one fateful night. You have to communicate with resident ghosts and do your own detective work to to solve an age old local mystery. All three games are accompanied by a very eerie soundtrack which helps to draw you in and give you more of a feel of the settings you find yourself in. The music is included on a bonus CD in the package which I think makes this even more value for money. If you're into spooky, atmospheric , games or ghosthunting adventures then you should give this one a chance.
