1.0 out of 5 stars Pretentious nonsense., 29 Oct. 2013
This review is from: Reflektor (Audio CD)
The lead 'singer' can't hold a note to save his life. And they keep chucking in French just to, y'know, be arty (aka pretentious). Nothing is catchy and the lyrics are too serious. Lighten up guys! Oh, and they just had to have an album cover based on a famous sculpture because they couldn't think of any original ideas on how to express themselves.

Canada isn't too great at giving us great bands. Celine Dion, Avril Lavigne, Justin Bieber, Nickleback. It's all terrible.

Avoid like the absolute plague unless you're partial to having the musical equivalent of icepicks stabbing you in the ears for 75 long, LONG minutes.

Dont buy an album by a band you obviously dislike. Btw they are from Montreal hence the French - look it up.

"... be arty (aka pretentious). ..."
Look your self in the mirror...
Great album, btw.

I echo the points of S Goodman. Yes they are indeed from Montreal so French is what they do. You obviously lack the knowledge of the music you buy which reflects in your ultimate reviews.

Its also interesting to see that you an inability to give anything you review more than 1 star. Why don't you buy things you actually have a pre-judged interest in - what an idiot....

What a ridiculous thing to say.

I agree, but don't judge all Canadian music by those you mentioned.

Grimes, Stars, Broken Social Scene, Tegan and Sara, Metric, Great Lake Swimmers - all Canadian, all excellent.

Why was my post removed from here? Not a particularly important subject matter, but an explanation would be nice or do we have to just blindly accept censorship? Whereas this guy can post racist comments about Canada quite freely....
Hmmmm.....

What absolute rubbish!! Like someone said, why review something you obviously dislike and have gone out of your way to criticise?

I just grabbed a listen today of the latest Avril Lavigne album - now, there's an hour or so of aural torture I'll never get back, and I was SOOO tempted to go on here and tear it to shreds. She's unoriginal, never changed and is taking on the likeable structure of her rawk husband Chad Kroeger of megabores Nickelback. But, having seen how many people have loved the album, why should I bother when I haven't even bought the pile of junk?

I make a rule of never reviewing anything I haven't bought. Otherwise I don't have the right to do so. I also uphold your right to criticise and give an opinion, but if you are going to do that, at least be constructive, or it makes you look pretty stupid.

Just sayin',...
