This review is from: Yoga and Kriya: A Systematic Course in the Ancient Tantric Techniques (Hardcover)
Firstly, I have to mention that I am an initiated follower of Swami Niranjanananda, the successor of Swami Satyananda, author of this work.
But even if I were not, I'm sure I would find this an amazing book.
This book contains everything anyone could ever need for the practice of yoga. It may not have absolute details of every posture (you need "APMB" - Asana, Pranayama, Mudra, Bandha - for that), but this book describes practices from the full range of yoga.
But better than that, it is also a step-by-step guide starting from absolute beginner, right through to some very deep practices. it is a book of personal transformation. Don't expect it to teach you to be a gymnast, expect it to convert you from your present state, to someone who is more calm, integrated and capable of dealing with life.
If you follow the 36 graduated lessons over the intended 3 years or more, you will be challenged on every level of your being, but you will also have the opportunity to find the true heart of Yoga.
I would strongly recommend anyone attempting to follow this book should have a yoga teacher, and even though the book starts from an assumption you are an absolute beginner, it is probably best, though perhaps not essential, to have a couple of years experience.
Get the book, get into the habit of devoting 15 minutes to an hour a day to sincere practice, and use this book to transform your life.
