5.0 out of 5 stars Allen Carr has changed my life!, 13 Nov. 2005
This review is from: Allen Carr's Easyweigh to Lose Weight (Paperback)
One of Allen Carr's instructions for reading this book is to keep an open mind! He DOESN'T say you can't eat meat, bread or rice - he just says you shouldn't eat too much of it. He DOESN'T say we should become vegan.
He says all animals are designed to eat certain foods and we are designed to eat fruit and vegetables, these are the foods we thrive on. Everyone knows this is true.
His writing style is little odd in places, but I think he is trying to make himself understood to every person who reads it. Some of his metaphors are a little weird, so the book needs to be read with a pinch of salt.
I read the book three weeks ago. He didn't tell me anything I didn't already know, but I felt as though all the guilt, confusion and anger were lifted from me and I felt an 'inner peace' sounds corny - but it's true.
I immediately started questioning the value of everything I put in my mouth and whether the experience of eating it would be worth the amount of extra fat it would put on my grossly overweight body and in the majority of cases, the answer was no.
In my 44 years of life, I have tried every diet there is, I have succeeded, then failed again with weightwatchers. Three weeks ago I was the fattest I had ever been, nearly 18 stone, down in the dumps, completely lacking in confidence, unable to even walk up the stairs comfortably.
Yesterday I walked 14 miles, today I have cycled all round my village and completed a ½ hour exercise routine - and it's still only 9'o'clock in the morning. I ache, but I am buzzing - I feel sylphlike, even though I am still 17 stone. I doesn't matter, it's early days but I am more sure now than I have ever been, that this time I will lose weight and stay slim.
Thank you Allen Carr - you certainly have released me from the prison I had locked myself into!.....(and, no I'm not his mum!)
