An outstanding piece of hardware for the price.,
This review is from: Dell Latitude D630, MS Win XP Professional, Intel Core 2 Duo T7250 2 GHz, 2GB Memory, 80GB Hard Drive, 14 WXGA, DVDRW, Dell 3 Year Onsite Warranty
I have owned one of these laptops for three years now, apart from a new 9 cell battery, there is nothing wrong with it.
Running windows XP pro, 120GB HDD, 2GB Ram.
For the price, you are getting a good amount of performance with a good level of build quality.
It will do almost everything that a modestly powerful desktop will do, it can play 720p quality video, graphics software, but don't expect it to do 1080p video editing, even my desktop struggles with that.
These are common machines for I.T. professionals and business users, because they are solid, reliable and powerful.
Upgrade tips : Swap the hard drive for one with a speed of 7200rpm or higher, of if you are well off, An SSD unit, it will improve the performance.
: The 9 cell battery holds 50% more power for little additional cost.
: The Dock is a useful upgrade, especially if you have an external storage device attached to it.
: Go onto the Dell website every few moths for driver updates, they do make a difference.
This is a laptop for people who just wants something that works well everyday, hassle free computing at a good price.
