Great pictures, awful video,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Fujifilm FinePix F900EXR Digital Camera - Black (16MP, 20x Optical Zoom) (discontinued by manufacturer) (Camera)
This camera fits nicely in the hand and is small enough to carry in a case on the belt without being too bulky. Alternatively it will fit in a jacket pocket comfortably, but I'd say be careful of the delicate lens cover because it seems like it may damage easily.
All the buttons are easy to access, and the mode dial is angled back on the top which makes it that bit more convenient. And the battery life, though I can't put any hard and fast stats onto it yet, seems pretty impressive.
The camera powers up and switches off very swiftly too - a great time-saver if you spot something you want a photo of quickly.
So on to the mechanics of the camera, and clearly the manufacturer has again put a lot of thought into making it top notch. The picture quality is nice and vibrant, and the stabiliser works great so that even on full 20x zoom you can get a great image free from blurring. And what about that zoom? That's 20x optical, meaning even at full zoom your image isn't going to lose definition. I can point it out of my window and get decent pictures of the birds that visit our garden with very little effort.
As is generally the case, the photo modes are selectable, giving you as much or as little control over the settings as you like. Unless you're a keen photographer you'll probably never need to go manual because the auto mode selector is so intelligent that it's very rarely going to get it wrong. There are also various special effects that can be applied - my favourite of which is the partial colour feature - if you want to play around with extras.
Actually, I can really only think of one downside to this camera - but it's a big one. The movie quality is shocking.
Even at 'full HD' (1920x1080 60fps) the image is not crisp and the camera struggles with the focusing, and as a result your movie will constantly go in and out of focus every several seconds. In fact my little Z20 gives me nicer movies even at 640x480!
As for zooming in during filming, you can forget it with the F900EXR - I've tried it just zooming in on the trees out of my bedroom window and the camera can't lock on to them at all. To cap it all the zoom motor sounds like a factory machine chugging away during playback, which really kills the effect!
So, a mixed response from me and it really depends what you look for in a camera. For stills, this is great. But for movies I would strongly advise against it because I think you'll be disappointed.

I had the same problem with video and sent it to Fujifilm. They adjusted the HD video function and since then it makes great videos.
