I found the story at the begining quite original and topical. The characters seemed very diverse and particularly the City banker's storyline, enjoyable. However, it then starts getting a bit too linear, in that a lot of pages are spent on rambling sublots such as the Polish builder and the police/detectives investigating the mysterious post cards that do not build up. In the end there is no real twist but just a very predictable resolution to some of the story lines, some others are left there almost inconclusive. The police investigation, taking so much real estate in the book pages, ends up being resolved in such a nonsensical way and involving such an ancillary character that it would have been easy to dispense with. Not worth the read, I think.
