Some genuinely chilling moments but ultimately disappointing.,
This review is from: The Killing Circle (Paperback)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)Based around a reviewer's desire to write a novel and subsequent joining of a writers circle, this dark horror has some genuinely chilling moments, as the members of the writers circle return week after week to read their latest offerings and events in the real world start to mirror these supposedly imagined stories. The first half of the novel successfully ramps up the tension until the book takes and unexpected path. Up until this point I had thoroughly enjoyed the tale and could have easily seen this turned into a big Hollywood movie.
Sadly the second half of the novel fails to live up to the early promise and the convoluted and implausible twists and deeply unsatisfying finale let the book down, and it ends up feeling more like an episode of `The Hammer House of Horrors.'
