A must have for your xbox 360 elite,
This review is from: Official Xbox 360 Play and Charge Kit - Black (Xbox 360) (Accessory)
This play and charge kit is an absolute essential for your xbox 360 elite ,as this is the official one from microsoft you can rest assure that it is a good quality product and will last a long time ,also with this rechargeable battery pack you will no longer need any standard batteries inside your controller.
All you do is place the black box (rechargable battery pack) into the back of your controller then insert the cable end with the small circle on it into the top of the controller then connect the other end of the cable into the usb port on the xbox 360 elite console (behind the small door on the right hand side of the power button) ,you can also keep the cable in the controller for continuous charge while playing.
If you get a red light on the cable then it's charging and a green light means it's fully charged ,when it's fully charged you can remove the cable from the controller if you want to play a game wirelessly.
Two slight downfalls to this product is the batteries overheating when charging ,i don't know how but for some reason at times (not all the time) the battery pack will start to heat up really badly when it's charging (it doesn't damage the battery pack) and this items packaging is that strong anti-theft packaging that slices your hand if you open it the wrong way.

Hi there and thanks for the post.
I've just placed an order for a 250gb xbox 360 so I apologise if this sounds like a newbie question but does this work with the new xbox slim controller?
Thanks in advance.

Yes this works with the slim controller ,the old and new controllers are practically identical except for the colours of the buttons (old one's are grey and the new slim one's are black).

Thanks for the heads up. As you can tell I know very little when it comes to the hardware and accessories for the xbox. I was an avid PS3 fan before but have now switched sides :)
Also, only if you have another moment to spare, can you suggest anything else I should look at purchasing? My 360 should be delivered next Wednesday and just wanted to make sure I have everything I need to get stuck in.
Thanks once again.

The rechargeable plug and play battery pack is all you really need as it saves money on batteries ,if you have an HD tv then you might want to get an HDMI cable if there isn't one supplied with your xbox 360 and if you wan't to watch dvd's on your xbox 360 then you could get a set of remotes for it ,if you get the official ones the battery power can be drained everytime you press a button as the remote buttons light up so it's best to get a set of remotes that don't have light up buttons but the xbox 360 controller works the dvd player anyway ,everything else you need should be with the console.

the pack you get is the rechargable batteries ,the batteries are built into the pack and can't be removed.
