A smashing romantic tale. The heroine, a magazine editor named Kit, falls for the bridegroom who is getting married to another woman in two weeks' time. Mark, the bridegroom, is attracted to Kit but fights against it as he's a fairly decent guy and doesn't want to do the dirty on his fiancee, Ruby. Had Ruby been a different sort of woman then Kit would have suffered unrequited love but Ruby is a ruthless wannabe celebrity TV star and blows Mark off in favour of a job interview when they were supposed to be taking a private weekend break away from all the wedding furore. Kit, meanwhile, has been kicked off the wedding planning side of the magazine because of several unfortunate happenings involving Mark and given a job decorating the bride's parents' beach residence on a shoestring for another planned article in the magazine. She is unaware that the condo is the planned getaway destination of Mark and Ruby so goes about livening up the plain white interior with suitable cushions and lamps to bring some warmth to the place. When she has finished she takes a bath... you've guessed it... Mark arrives, sans Ruby. She has just wrapped herself up in a towel when Mark walks into the room minus his shirt. He retreats, discombobulated, whilst Kit gets hastily dressed. After sharing a hot kiss which might have led to other things they are interrupted by the ringing of Mark's phone and this brings things to a halt. Mark goes off for a walk on the beach and Kit retires to bed. In the morning, Ruby has arrived unexpectedly and Mark has to forcibly drag her off to go for a walk and allow Kit to escape unseen. Unbeknowst to Kit, Mark breaks off his engagement and when Kit goes to work the next day she is faced with a barrage of paparazzi who want the inside dirt on the broken engagement, which has been blamed on her by Ruby in an interview. However, all's well that end's well when you reach the conclusion of this witty, entertaining read.
