Book was OK but if you are interested in the Roman Period then look for the author Conn Igulan.

I. D. Burgess says:
I wouldn't recommend Conn Igulan if you are seriously interested in the Roman period as his chronology and characters are completely wrong.
The story telling is fine but to take any part of it as valid history is ridiculous. His version of Brutus has nothing at all in common with the actual person.
At least the Marco and Cato books' characters are more truthful to the actual Roman history.

That's Conn 'Iggulden' folks - just in case you're searching. A much better author than Scarrow IMHO, but its all down to personal taste.... Oh, and I.D. - this is historical 'fiction' - it only needs to nod in the general direction of historical 'fact' - whatever that is...
