This review is from: Young Americans [CD + DVD] (Audio CD)
On this special 2007 edition of 'Young Americans' you get three bonus tracks: 'John I'm Only Dancing (Again)', 'Who Can I be Now?' and 'It's Gonna Be Me' (which are all sublime by the way), and were on the original CD release, plus a DVD featuring live performances of this album from the mid seventies. This all adds up to an attractive package. This version is definitely one for the die-hard Bowie fan (like myself), but if you're only a casual fan, then check out the normal version of this CD instead, and basque in the splendor of 'Young Americans', 'Win' (he's such a cool and soulful crooner on this), 'Somebody Up There Likes Me' and 'Fame', amongst all the other gems.
One final thought, compared with some of his other seventies albums, this isn't one of his best, but the standard of his albums throughout that period of 1969-1980 was so high, that this still rates as a five star album (and that's just for the basic version), but with this edition and all it's extra's on top, how could you not give it anything less than five stars?
