This review is from: Rowan Atkinson Live [DVD] (DVD)
I remember years ago seeing the first Mr Bean sketches at my local cinema shown prior to the main feature and really enjoyed them. Of course the Mr Bean character then developed into a dreadful abomination which is best forgotten. Seeing Rowan Atkinson performing here makes you realise what a sad loss his defection to Hollywood is. These sketches are not far off 20 years old but are still as fresh and funny as the day they were performed. Some of the sketches are spoken, some mime with commentary but you can start to see the direction Rowan was going in.
This DVD is worth buying just for the "extra" sketch when Rowan plays a silent drum kit but the show is enjoyable throughout.
When you think of the great work Rowan did on Not The Nine O'Clock News, Black Adder and this live show, it is sad to see what he has become. Come back to us Rowan. You are a major talent who has lost his way.

I have been reading your reviews and some i agree with and some i do not so i was sitting on the fence as to whether or not to buy an item you awarded 3 stars. However....Anyone that likes Mr Bean is living in a different world to mine. I find it to be utter drivel!!
I do agree with you about Avatar though so i am still stuck :)

You misunderstood. I can't stand Mr Bean. I called the character an abomination.
