Headphones are headphones ... right?
They all deliver sound from a sound source to your ears, get tangled and are meant to fit all ear sizes and shapes. And if that was all we had to judge these ear phones on then these would be just the same as any other .. but they aren't .. and for several reasons !
These headphones are specifically designed for gym users & runners, and come with features that mean they excel in those areas.
Had a particularly sweaty work out or run ? Then rinses them under running water to remove the sweat ! They are made from material that is combined with an anti bacterial agent and this in turn will, it is claimed extend the life of them and stop the rubber and plastic perishing.
Don't you hate it when your headphones don't quite fit right, and lead to external noise mixing with your favourite tunes, allowing your music to escape and annoy others or even affect the quality of your crystal clear digital sound. Well, these little beauties come with 3x different size silicon caps to allow even the smallest or large ears to fit snugly round them and block out excess noise. Coupled with the behind the ear fit & design they won't be going anywhere whether you are running, rowing, cycling or just walking to work.
Add to these handy, less than common features the fact that there is an in line volume control that, when coupled with 3rd and 4th gen Apple iPod Shuffle & Touch, 5th & 6th gen Nano, iPhone 4 & 3GS and the latest iPad will control your music while listening through iTunes, detachable 1.2M extension lead, a nice strong clip and a natty little bag to keep all the bits in when not in use, you have a great value for money set of earphones that will look and feel like they will last as long as you can keep your mates hands off them.
My only two negative observations are that I feel the volume control portion is too close to the earphones and could do with being another 6-8cm further along. This would allow new users to see the +, - & select buttons much easier while getting to grips with the controls. I guess this could be so the microphone is close to the mouth though. This is also where my second negative comes in, as the difference in profile is not as good as it could be. It is very tricky to discern the difference between the three buttons and can lead to choosing the next track when all you want to do is increase or decrease the volume.
That said, if these ever break or get lost, I will happily buy another set because as they say, practice makes perfect and by that time I would more than likely have got the hang of the controls !
It might seem odd to leave the audio quality to the end in a review of earphones but let's just say they work, sound fantastic with bassy dance tracks, the detail is very present in light percussion on jazz tracks and voices clear on audio books.
I am not an audio engineer so couldn't start to criticize the quality .. it just sounds great !
