GOOSEBUMP MUSIC TO RAISE THE DEAD!!!,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Liszt: Piano Concertos 1 & 2, Totentanz (Audio CD)
Good album on a decent label (Apex is a division of Warner Bros).
The sound quality & performances are excellent, as are the liner notes
The Totentanz is one of THE most scary sounding pieces around making full & repetitive use of the ominous Dies Irae theme (as heard in the opening titles for Stanley Kubrick's The Shining). Another good place to hear the use of the Dies Irae is at the climax of Berlioz's Symphony Fantastique.
The opening 10 seconds of The Totentanz(translated as Dance Of Death) are some of the most heartpounding & bombastic I have heard!
Great piano from Boris Berezovsky throughout, full orchestral backing of a high standard, superb audio and a fear factor into double figures - You'd be a coward not to purchase!
