3.0 out of 5 stars Compromised archaeology., 12 May 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Gobekli Tepe: Genesis of the Gods: The Temple of the Watchers and the Discovery of Eden (Paperback)
Goblekli Tepe is the most important archaeological discovery for years, replacing the Step Pyramid Complex at Saqqara - some 7000 years younger, as the Worlds first known building - or series of stone.circles in stone - and there are many illustrations - But . I'd wanted a straight book on the archaeology, it could have been the first - but it is shot through with mystic speculations, if not quite at the von Daniken level, attempting to relate it to early Jewish mysticism. That might have been very interesting, in another book, but I didn't need it here.

Mr. Davies says:
As an exceptional commentator has mentioned, the Occult (the hidden realms of underlying reality) is everywhere you care to really see.All is consciousness. How ancient people experienced the world is ignored by the materialist stance of Science (Archaeology in this instance).Conscious experience, and thereby both knowledge and ability were different. This wisdom is now lost, and modern Academia does nothing to reveal it.It is dry, stale and ignorant by comparison.
Andrew Collins attempts to fill this void.I may agree he doesn't succeed overall. But his energy, his sincerity and passion attempts to come to terms with an enduring legacy of great antiquity.
Science without real intuition will never provide true and lasting revelation. For that you must go inside, and that is study of a different kind.As a starting point you might do well to look at Gerald Massey's Egypt the Light of the World.
Science lost it's opportunity by ignoring the great open mindedness of men like Massey.Unfortunately it has become more like a religion.Literal Christianity gave us modern literal science. Not only that it is making ridiculous claims to augment, fudge and shoehorn it's theories into all of it's disciplines.
