An impressive album,

Since this is a .co.uk site I will include a somewhat superfluous statement. Noir desir [désir] are a very successful rock group. Not only in their native France I might add.
Now, for the album itself I should say that it is not your usual rock record. You won't find many fast paced or electric guitar dominated tracks.
Nor is it like other Noir Desir records. I guess if you had to have an introduction to their music you'd be better off trying "666.667 Club" or "Tostaky", which are very good themselves. If it was between these two, pick the first.
But this is a record to have, not because it's representative of Noir Desir or because you will acquaint yourself with french rock (if such a thing actually exists), but because this record is a masterpiece in its own right.
In it you'll find gems. Some you will recognise instantly, such as "Le vent nous portera". Others you'll have to listen the album over a couple of times to spot. I won't ruin the pleasure of discovering yourself.
Now, I don't know much French. Presumably you don't know either. That probably diminishes the listening value, if only judging from the track "Lost", whose words are either in English or simple enough to understand with a little effort and knowledge of some basic french words (...such as femme). "I'm lost but I'm not stranded yet".
And to translate, "Le vent nous portera" means "The wind sweeps us along" or rather "We are being drifted by the wind".
