Another Lost Opportunity...,
This review is from: The BBC Sessions (Audio CD)
Firstly the wonder of Rory is without question. I first saw this genius in the days of TASTE and followed him until the end. However this double CD has yet again been compromised by stupid track ordering. I bought this the day it came out and really meant to write this review then but after having to reload a new ipod recently it reminded me to do it..! Why do the folk who compile these things have to mess around with the historical order of this great music? Common sense would dictate that as the content here covers 15 years of musical development then the tracks should be presented in CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER. We have time starting at 1977, then down to 1971 then up again to 1986 - stupid, stupid. And due to the fact that the first CD ('In Concert') has the tracks overlapping this order cannot be correctly ordered for personal use without impacting things. Get a grip you compilers, realise that the real collectors and the people who have been buying music like this for years want it to reflect the years of following guys like Rory with music that runs in parallel with time not a hotch-potch of leaping around.
So there you have it, 6 stars for the music, 1 star for the self indulgent compilers who think they know better than the real fans who love Rory's music, have grown up with it, and hate it being messed about with.
