This review is from: That Bear Ate My Pants! Adventures of a real Idiot Abroad (Kindle Edition)
After reading the hilarious Kamikaze Kangaroos I immediately downloaded Tony Slater’s other books. That Bear Ate My Pants was his first book and so seemed the best place to start. Yet again Tony Slater made me laugh out loud in public places causing a small amount of red faced embarrassment. But who cares? So what if people move away from me with worried looks on their faces, or pull their children away to protect them from the strange laughing man. When a book is this funny you can’t help but laugh.
Volunteering in an animal rescue shelter halfway up a mountain in Ecuador sounds like it could be fun, rewarding, exciting, scary and emotional. Tony proves this to be correct. His encounters with the local wildlife, (both animal and human), take him through loads of different stories of adventure, laughter, love and heartache. A lot of this is down to the tasks he undertakes such as driving along mountain sides where the road is barely wide enough for the truck, being faced with gun toting locals, caring for animals of varying danger levels, or trying to woo the local girls. However, some of the situations he faces are down to one simple fact which is that he is a self confessed clumsy accident prone idiot. He’s a lovable idiot though. He goes in with all the best intentions but things don’t always go as he hopes.
All I will say is that I can’t wait to read Don’t Need The Whole Dog and seriously hope that he writes more books about his adventures through life. He is one of the funniest authors around.
