a comedy that thinks it's really funny,

And that's never a good sign. In escaping from the time lords, the doctor committed suicide, expecting to regenerate. But he didn't realise that time lords who kill themselves change sex.
Thus a female doctor is hiding out in london, the tardis long dormant. Working at sainsburys. And getting drunk. A lot.
The latter forms the pretty much the entire extent of the comedy. If you find people constantly vomiting down the toilet funny, then this is for you.
It's not all bad. Arabella Weir is absolutely superb as the doctor and it's a shame she didn't get a better script to work with. She has some very funny exchanges with images of the previous doctor, and a pair of clueless timelords on her tail are not entirely unfunny.
But the play runs out of what energy it had halfway through, and limps towards a very drawn out conclusion. A pity, as the actors involved deserved a lot better
