Read the reviews, on here and in WSC - thought i'd have a blast on the book as it sounded like a no brainer...
This was mind numbing & at the best of times. It just comes across as made up twaddle (he talks utter rubbish - his tone is not what I'd expect from a 30 year old) - his take on Middlesbrough & Sheffield in the first 2 chapters left me wondering that he was really trying too hard to be 'funny' for his readers, it doesn't sit as easy reading for me & i got bored very quickly, his little quips where not for me.
They are for many other on here but, just a few pages into 'Luton' (3rd chapter) the contents of my flask unknowingly leaked out & while the back seat of Gary's Ford Focus was dark enough to mask the coffee stains, the books white pages were not & thus where turned into a soggy brown pulp.
I didn't have the great notion to air it out & carry on, i'd simply had enough of it - so, my review is of the first 2 'chapters' if you like, not much of a review but i had a feeling it was going to carry on on the same 'made up twaddle' tune.
Shame really as i was really looking forward to the book after the reviews. Gary didn't notice the coffee stains on the back seat and my long 'away day' road trip to York ended in a 3-2 win, every cloud has a silver lining.
