mind how you go,
This review is from: The Mind's Eye (Doctor Who) (Audio CD)
Another audio adventure for the fifth doctor who, with his companions peri and erimem. This is a three part story, each episode running twenty five minutes in length.
The tardis lands on an alien world, with some strange plant life. and a close encounter with this leaves the doctor dazed and in the custody of a military and scientific expedition, and peri and erimem in completely different worlds of their own.
But there's a lot more going on here than meets the eye. and are any of these worlds safe for the tardis crew?
An excellent little story. nothing special plotting wise but being three rather than four parts means it's paced very well and it rattles along at quite a good rate as a result. the regulars are helped by a good guest cast who manage to make characters that could have been cliched quite believable. there are several surprising twists in part three and a final scene that really packs a strong emotional punch, making it very memorable.
the fourth episode on the disc, mission of the viryans, is set after the upcoming audio story bride of peladon. and it gives some hints as to that one having a memorably ending, so you may want to wait on listening to this until after then. this is a one part story that introduces a new alien race who are out to kill the doctor. their reasons for this are quite original, and the episode itself is well done, as they and peri struggle to disover the truth about a strange event. there's a surprising final twist so don't turn the cd player off till the very end of the final track.
as usual both discs contain up to twenty minutes of interviews with the cast of the story. these can be a bit repetitive, but there are good moments in the interviews here and they are worth a listen
