This review is from: Searching For Sugar Man Soundtrack: All Songs By Rodriguez (Audio CD)
Just when I thought there were no more genuine artists or heros left. Look at the impact Mr. Rodriguez's deep, haunting and soul-searching tunes have had on the ultra conservative and racially torn country of South Africa... and look at what America missed. It's own home grown conscience. I am so grateful to the persistant South African music lover and particularly the journalist who persisted in finding the not so raw bones of Mr. Rodriguez.

A message to Mr Rodriguez: America needs you more than ever...write and sing our souls back home!

Bless you Mr. Rodriguez and your wonderful daughters.

One of the best film documentaries I have ever seen...!!!

I appreciate your sentiments as pertains to his impact in SA (and the fact that he was initially ripped off by the very same people who promote him in the movie until they bring him to SA) and of course Rodriguez music is very good (though not mind-blowing). But people do have to realise one thing. The wonderful "Searching for Sugarman" documentary did not reveal that Rodriguez was nowhere near 'hidden' and had in fact already conducted tours in Australia (where he was also popular) in the 80s and his records were also legitimately (?) being released there. The story is great - but not quite as is.
