I actually bought this accident thinking I'd downloaded the sample. I wish I had because the writing is pitiful, childlike and badly in need of an editor. I did rather wonder if it was written by a teenage boy, except some teenagers can actually write.
Badly drawn characters, some shocking lack of knowledge on current protocols on flights. In the first chapter one of the characters - I hesitate to use that term as no characterisation is in evidence - proposes going to talk to the pilot about a delay in arrival and goes off to do that- which just seems a niave at the least, and incredibly stupid at the worst, idea.
I gave up story which just lurches along, as another reviewer has described it. It's a bit like a pop video - small scenes, a cut and then a shift into a new scene. If I was reading a nephew's creative writing project then I might well be impressed, but to parade this as a published work is laughable.
Read the sample unlike me. I am at least grateful that it was relatively cheap. If you want good writing go read Hugh Howey's Shift trilogy. Really good writing, and great plotting, fleshed out characters and everything I would pay good money for.
I am amazed at the positive reviews of this book.. I have no idea why - perhaps it does get better somewhere along the line. I gave up and skimmed through it.
