The Sound of Summer 2011.,

I'd never heard of her before, but this album received a lot of airplay in Summer on Jazz FM. With its blend of beautiful melodies and light percussion, it became the sound of the Summer this year and even now it reminds me of warmer climes and sunny days.
Bossa Nova has been around for a long time now, but this is an update, with programmed beats and electronic treatments. It is still voice and acoustic guitar to the fore though, on most tracks and this is the essence of Bossa. There is also some nice bass work from Sabrina's father who played with the most well-known Brazilian funk band Azymuth on classic albums and this album sounds quite like Partido Novo with more vocals and less Jazz improvisation.
At times, the electronic sounds are almost weirdly intrusive, but in the end, the light sound and melodic nature of the music, wins through and it is both dance music and an insight into where Brazilian music is at, nowadays. The playing is always sympathetic and supportive to the vocals, which are the focus of this album and it seems that Sabrina Malheiros is set to be new champion of Bossa, everywhere. Just put this on and you are "dreaming" of Summer!
