Good, but 2007 is very similar,
This review is from: Microsoft Office Professional 2010, 1 User [Product Key Card Only] (PC)
This is the latest version of the popular Microsoft Office suite. The version here contain all the elements that you would normally expect to find and, unlike the SoHo version ( Microsoft Office 2010 Home and Student, 3 Users (PC DVD) ), does contain Outlook.
The first impressions are:
- it loads up very easily and nicely imports all your setting from any previous version of Office. Indeed, my calendar and all my contacts seemed to update effortlessly. Although this did take a few minutes, the progress message meant that I didn't get concerned that there was any kind of problem.
- When it fires up, apart from the slightly different style of pop-up welcome message, it feels very similar to 2007. In fact that is the main issue that I have. Apart from a few new features, I see little in the way of change that most users will appreciate by upgrading from 2007 to 2010.
There is a new feature in that it now allows you to create and maintain a SharePoint site within your own network. I haven't really tried this out in anger yet, however it does seem fairly logical and easy to use.
So, if you are are on Office 2003, then it is probably worth the upgrade, however if you're already on 2007, then I probably won't bother with this latest version unless there is some stunning feature that you really feel that you need.
So 4 stars it is.
BTW - if you are on Office 2003 or early, then upgrading to 2007 or 2010 is worthwhile, however be prepared for a totally different look and feel to the suite and, for a while, frustration while you search for features which have now moved to somewhere else (they are all still there, but some are now quite well hidden!!!)
