36 years after the release of their debut album Leafhound are back with their second. It's been a long, worthwhile wait. Singer/ songwriter Pete French is the only original member but he has chosen three musicians who elevate this masterpiece to the top of the rock music tree. It's in the style of Zeppelin/ Free and has all the elements of those early 70's rock classics. Unleashed is essentially a 'back to basics', guitar, drums, bass and vocals album with a sprinkling of keyboards on one of the eight tracks. Two tracks feature acoustic guitar but don't worry they sound good. The album was produced by Pete French and Luke Rayner (guitar) and they've done an excellent job. All too often albums with great potential are ruined with poor production and it always seems to be the bass and drums that sound as though they've been recorded in a padded cell. Not here, you can hear every note of Ed Pearsons bass guitar and what a nice sound it is too. I think he uses a Fender Jazz or Precision. Anyway he works very tightly with Jimmy Rowland on drums whose cymbols are never over used or too loud. These guys certainly know how to play good rock music and definately know how to present it to joe public. All in all a gem. Treat yourself for Xmas you'll love it .
