I bought this book to try out the dhokla recipe and it's nothing like her shop bought ones. They tasted disgusting!

Try being a better cook then, don't blame the book and give it a one star review.

What an appalling review! As the previous commenter said, it probably has far more to do with your inability to cook than with Kaushy's recipe.

dhokla are one of the most difficult recipes to master, there is an art to it, every one has a different recipe, outside temperatures affect the batter, you may need to try different steamers to find one that works, the cooking time varies...if I wrote a cook book I'd leave this one out, I am Indian and I know lots of people who would dream of cooking it, having found it's not their area of expertise and tend to ask friends or relatives who are good to cook it for them.
