Competively priced, simple device, some minor shortcomings,
This review is from: Sagemcom RTI95500 Freeview + HD Digital TV Recorder 500GB (Electronics)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
The plus point of this product are:
It is very simple to set-up
It quickly scans and captures Freeview channels (97 TV channels and 24 radio channels, from our home in Birmingham)
It provides excellent HD-TV pictures and sound
It is easy to operate
It has a large 500 Gb HDD, capable of recording 300 hours of TV programmes.
Not so good points:-
The "search" software of the product at the time of writing (Aprl 2013) has a minor shortcoming: When searching on a key-word, the recorder identifies only the first episode of a TV series matching the key-word, rather than all episodes of the series. Also, the recorder does not retain the key-word for future searches. I have drawn these points to the attention of Sagecom and I received a very helpful and prompt reply indicating that they would consider addressing these in a future software release.
Also internet connection is LAN-wired only. There is no wi-fi facility.
My summary: If you are looking for a simple, competively proced recorder, this could very well meet your requirements. And Sagecom seem receptive to suggestions as the further development of their software.
