Not a worthwhile release,
This review is from: Michael Jackson's This Is It (Audio CD)This compilation has some of the best songs ever recorded on it. However, Michael Jackson has a massive selection of hits albums available to buy already. Sony have just pushed one more onto the market and are trying to tell us that it is the soundtrack to the film. IT IS NOT. This is original album recordings of songs that are featured in the film, not live tracks from the film. There is only one 'new' song. Which is a reject from a previous album. And as far as the track listing goes it isn't anything special, the tracks are only what were featured in the film therefore one or two big number are absent.
As for it being a 2 disc album, was it worth it? There are only a handful of songs on the second disc (demo's and a poem to be precise) that could easily have been included on disc 1, or not at all. All this does is increases the price further.
Sony have also cancelled the singe release of 'this is it' to encourage fans to buy this. SHAME ON THEM!!!
If you want a hits collection consider The Essential, Number Ones or King of Pop, Best Of.
I look forward to the release of the film and any future new material from the 'king of pop'. However this album won't be making it's way onto my shelf.
