This review is from: La Haine [DVD] (DVD)It is worth questionning the people who say that this film is just about violence. Perhaps people are not looking beyond the surface? The film is about more than just violence - frustration with authority, denial of basic human rights, racism, youth culture, life in the banlieues (ableit one point of view)
It is an excellent film, brilliantly shot and compelling. Do not be put off by subtitles, the film is worth it. It is not without faults - the story does seem to go off on a tangent during the trip to Paris. Whilst the shouting and fighting may provoke frustration, this is exactly the point - Kassovitz gives us a taste of the frustration these characters experience, not just one day, but every day. He is making us experience La Haine ourselves.
