1.0 out of 5 stars Worst Film I Have Ever Seen?, 21 Dec. 2012
This review is from: Beasts of the Southern Wild [DVD] [2012] (DVD)
This film is rotten. One of the worst films, possibly the worst, I have ever seen: the 'acting', by and large, is atrocious; the story is ridiculous; the message, if there is one, is obtuse; the tone is depressing; the charatcters are all unendearing; the dialogue is shouty; but above all it's pretentious. Even a low budget can't excuse it. Save your money.

Were you the guy who got up and loudly left the cinema about seven eighths of the way through the film, waking me from my peaceful sleep?

I have to say that I thought the film was brilliant, the acting fantastic, the story engrossing and the message both nuanced and important. Mr Charles Parry should stick to watching Holywood blockbusters. I suspect that he didn't chose to go to see this!

I suppose that is why it has been nominated for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actress at the 2013 Academy Awards.

Dear Michael Burns - I don't see any reference to the OP being stupid, do you? Also, in your opinion they are wrong too, and children to boot, so are you a smug Nazi as well? Just because someone has their own opinion, doesn't mean they are right or immune from criticism of that opinion. After all, it was Hitlers opinion that all Jews should be annihilated, was that also a valid opinion not to be questioned? In this free world we live in, opinions are just that - opinions, and we are all free to agree or disagree. Before you reply, I didn't call you a smug Nazi, I asked if you were one.

Opinions are one thing, but to consider it to be the worst film you've ever seen, wow! Consider yourself very lucky if this is the worst you've seen, you know,a much praised movie that actually has something to say about human emotions.
Granted, the chances are you just didn't get it,or didn't care to.
I am all for people not liking praised movies,i know I've been blasted for not liking so called classics, but it does help if you can back up your view with words that wouldn't be easy to mock. I suspect most people who gave negative votes on this review did so because it's laughable when you consider how many truly awful films there are out there. It wasn't quite the film I imagined it would be,but I was left mesmerized. Some weren't,fair enough, but it would be nice to see someone back up a negative review with something respectable.
