Katie Morag: Illustrated Tales - For All Ages,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: More Katie Morag Island Stories (Paperback)
It can't be easy to write and illustrate a book which can, and in this case - and in my opinion does - appeal to all ages. But this book does. We purchased this book to show and read to our 2 3/4 year old grandson as what seemed to us as a refreshing alternative to the useless pre-school fare. Though he is (we think)too young to appreciated the concepts which are presented in this book his Grandma and Granddad are not and we are all amazed by the illustrations. Not just the quality where there simplicity speaks/illustrates volumes but how they add depth to the narrative. They are fantastic. At 7.00am, this very morning, me and my Grandson - who we were baby sitting and has a different time scale to his Grandparents - were captivated by: the cats under the range; the dog which is the spitting image of our own boarder terrier (Robson who jumps up at everyone); breastfed babies; free range sheep and the heart-warming romances of the 'Island and Mainland Grannies'. Added to this the realism of Island environment which reminds me of visits to Coll and Easdale makes this book which was bought for our Grandson an immediate favourite of ours .
Katie Morag may not become an international best seller, though we hope it does, but as far as we are concerned this is QUALITY which will keep the young and old in this family returning to it again and again. More Katie Morag please
