Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Giggs Fitness [DVD] (DVD)
I bought this DVD after learning about how Giggs had used Yoga to improve his football related fitness and performance.
I have previously only tried yoga on an iPad app and would class myself as a complete amateur.
I found this DVD to be utterly terrible for many reasons. Firstly Ryan Giggs is basically just the assistant in the DVD. His part is limited to wooden introductions to each workout and then being the person to demonstrate what the female instructor is instructing you to do. This doesn't effect the quality of the workout, but it's totally misleading to dress this DVD up as a Giggs DVD as you could replace Ryan Giggs with anyone and it'd not effect the quality of the DVD.
Secondly there is no introduction into what you are doing, how to do it or why you should do it. You just jump right into doing stretches with no prior info.
Thirdly any person who takes Yoga seriously will tell you it's more about posture and breathing than anything else. Very little time is spent discussing what your correct posture should be and I didn't hear ONE single mention of breathing technique.
Fourth Very little time is spent explaining each move and subsequently often I felt like I was doing it wrong, but it moved on so fast I was unable to correct myself.
Fifth the camera angles are terrible. When you are watching trying to imitate what they're doing you have to translate in your mind which leg/arm they are doing what with. This is a difficult enough process with just one camera angle, but they change camera angle every few seconds just as you're trying to work out one move it changes and you have to try and rework it out from another angle.
Sixth most of the references are to body and muscle parts by their technical names. If you don't know the technical names of these parts then you are not going to know which muscle or body part you are supposed to be working, and subsequently you can't work out whether you are doing the move right.
I read a lot of 1 star reviews on here and they are often just rants. My 1 star is honestly what I'd give the DVD as I found it frustrating within about 2 minutes.
To summarise there is nothing on this DVD that makes it in any way special for the sort of people that may be interested in a sports related DVD such as a Ryan Giggs one. Pass this one by and get a DVD that isn't just a poor work out with a big name attached to it.
