Great musical and personal journey,
This review is from: Bringing It All Back Home (Paperback)
Bought this to take as holiday reading on a trip to the USA......as a Yorkshire lass felt immediately at home with the writer...... really connected to the people and the places. Having recently seen Bob Dylan, the title grabbed me....and the anecdotes involving so many musicians from my past .... in my area...and further afield ... was totally engaging.....Hendrix buying chips after a failed gig in Ilkley, Sex Pistols at a children's Christmas Party in Huddersfield.....Satchmo in Batley.....wonderful funny stories....taking me from home to many other parts of the world searching for music and musicians.....found myself reading out chunks of the book to my husband as we were driving to Bethel Woods, the site of Woodstock 69. Perfect book to travel with.
Made me consider musicians unknown to me, as a result of which I am now listening to Billie Holiday and Richard Hawley.
Connections right to the end ... as the tragic event mirrored a period in my own life.....
I'll read this book again. Loved it!
