2.0 out of 5 stars More expensive in the long run, 27 May 2010
= Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Xbox 360 Arcade Console (Video Game)
I've had this console for about 3 years now and im trading it in to get a ps3. I wouldn't consider myself a "fanboy" of any console im just going to give my honest opinion.

This console appears cheap but it is not. If you want to see it at its full potential you have to pay alot of money for very expensive add ons. For example a new hard drive (120gb) at game is 60 quid, a network adapter is 50 quid, the wireless controller and charge and play kit is 30 quid (preowned)and if you want to ease the pressure on the lense reading the discs by getting the add on dvd player thats another 50 quid, 1 year on xbox live is another 40 quid. The list goes on.

Microsoft released everything as seperate add ons whereas sony built everything in, even the online gaming is free. By the time you've upgraded the 360, the ps3 is cheaper and you get the blu-ray drive which looks stunning.

Im not knocking the quality of this console because for 3 years i've played some great games and i've never had any breakdowns (the hdmi console has a new cooler chipset in it)its the price of everything for it i dont like.

Lastly, the ps3 lets you use any sata 2.5 drive in it whereas the 360 only accepts the microsoft branded ones.

to summarise, this console is ruined by microsoft corporation's greed.

Yes i completly agree,i had a 360 for 2 years then of course it broke after very light use,so now i've brought a ps3 slim ,i'm very happy with it ,a far superior machine in every way.

I see your point and I slightly agree with you.

If you're going to get a PS3, you need to get used to the flaws on the PS3's controller.

i would not get a ps3 as they crash alot , i even had a slim and it setup on the menu are awful. i found no difference in graphics in hd except the ps3 is a bit brighter.
ps3 has i-player and internet tho .i would get the xbox 360 slim version( new one that just came out).the kinect camera which detects movement using 3 cameras is completly brilliant . its basically like touch screen but your further away and not touching anything.

very rarely has my ps3 crashed, but one thing it does do that is sooo irritating, is that when it requires an update it will do nothing else. Even worse they can take half an hour or more sometimes and I've got a superfast connection, and a wired connector via a gigabit router. For this reason alone I would consider an xbox.

Iv'e owned both consoles, but recently got rid of my 360.The 360 served me well and i enjoyed my time with it.But like the bloke says it does get expensive and the exclusives have dried up.My ps3 has froze up at times but so did my 360.The graphics are the same, but when it's a Sony exclusive the 360 can't match the graphics.when the roles are reversed the 360 just stays at the same level.Just let me say that the 360 has been a fantastic machine and just keeps on kicking out quality. But with the ps3 still pushing out exclusives their was really no point in owning a 360 anymore.I'm not a Halo or Gears fan.
