FTM 2011 upgrade from FTM 2010,
This review is from: Family Tree Maker 2011 Deluxe (PC) (DVD-ROM)
I do not see the upgrade product on Amazon now but this what I bought; I apply and buy updates for most of my PC products - it keeps them up to date and upgrades are often cheaper.
I went through the usual traumatic upgrade from a old FTM 2004 to FTM 2010 and spent months fixing addresses, sources and citations and facts saved to the wrong field. Eventually it went well and I got used to the new interface.
Then I upgraded to FTM 2011. Bad news, it is full of bugs; I am finding new ones all the time. Support is non existent; there is a rudimentary knowledge base which has precisely zero entries for 2011 PC. Emailing and reporting bugs on the feedback system provides zero reply. There is no support for UK users, perhaps phoning the USA might work for how to use but not for bug fixes.
I tried to revert to FTM 2010 which I set up on another computer. The FTM 2011 file is not compatible with FTM 2010 so I cannot even revert back to something that worked - I am stuck with it. I will be asking many questions before upgrading to FTM 2012. Or I will convert to another system.
I wont list the software bugs,it is too long. If you are thinking of buying, go for FTM 2010, avoid FTM 2011.
One star because the installation and file conversion went well; but so do most other products. Zero stars is not available.
