Broken for Kindle,
This review is from: Wonders of the Solar System (Kindle Edition)I feel a little bit bad giving this 1 star, at in it's original format it may be a much better book - but in reality this type of book should never have been released for the Kindle. If you are considering buying the actual physical book then you can probably dismiss this review as I'm assuming it will be a completely different experience.
I haven't seen the original hardback but I am of the opinion that the book is very heavy with pictures, pictures which barely translated at all into the Kindle. The amount of times I found myself in bed squinting my eyes trying to make our what the captions were saying or the images were portraying. A few chapters in I ended up giving up completely on the graphs, pictures and large quotes and ended up just flicking through them to the next main body of text - this sometimes led me to have to flick through 5 pages in a row to finally get back to a main body of text.
Apart from that in terms of a review of the actual content itself - it was just a bit weird and full of barely relevant content. For instance Cox starts one chapter with a few paragraphs on his visit to Victoria Falls, before mentioning the rainbow in the waterfall and bringing us on to the subject of light - so I spent a minute reading filler content about a waterfall he visited which had barely anything in relation to the subject he was about to expand on. The book is full of these barely related examples in different locations on Earth - ok this is a bit like the television show itself, but still it's a little irritating in a book format.
Anyway I did manage to pick through the book and read some interesting content on a subject I love - it just really wasn't written for a Kindle (or was translated horrendously) and it doesn't really do much for someone who already had a decent bit of knowledge in the subject.

A good honest review. I gave a similar review on the Wonders of the Universe Kindle edition. But I can't find it now as the kindle version seems to have been removed. I did mention this kindle book too in that review. Maybe this will also disappear? I have since bought both books on hard back and they are in my opinion '5 star'. I kind of hoped that amazon would have refunded my purchase as I never managed to finnish either on kindle.
