Nearly a pleasure!,
This review is from: Tefal GV7450 Express Anti-Calc Steam Generator (Kitchen & Home)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I have a friend who really enjoys the simple pleasure of ironing ... I will never be that person, to me, ironing is a chore.
Having said that, the Tefal 7450 makes light of large piles of clothes, the controls are simple to set up, has a large reservoir of water ... more than enough for what I will contend with, and is ready to go in less than 2 minutes.
Clearly I haven't been using this long enough to go through a de-calc process, but you do get a warning, and de-calc does look pretty easy to do. The water in my area is fairly neutral, but we always fill up our iron with water from the filter jug. We have never had any problems to date.
The iron itself treads the boards between being light enough to use throughout the task in hand, and has just enough heft to glide across your clothes. Ample steam on tap helps I'm sure. I see that more expensive steam generator irons advertise higher pressures ... 6 Bar as apposed to 5 on the 7450 ... but I would say this is more than adequate. The build quality looks to be pretty good, and I guess it should provide years of service.
We are lucky enough to have a mesh ironing board, and that contributes to time saving, and letting the steam through. (we did note that the windows did get a bit misty afterwards)
I have also used the Tefal 7450 to freshen up (de-crease) a couple of suits and also took some stubborn creases out of some stored curtains.
All in all, a good quality tool. Ironing will never be a pleasure for me, but having the right tools helps.
