Salon Laser is more effective. This does not remove facial hair,
This review is from: Philips Lumea Precision SC2002/01 IPL Hair Removal System with Facial Attachment (Personal Care)
I bought Lumea because I wanted to treat my facial hair myself without going to the salon which did not do me any good in completely removing my facial hair although I continued treatment for 2 years going every 2 months.
With salon laser, my facial hair would all fall out after one week of treatment and start to grow back the week before the next treatment. With Lumea, and I have been using it for 2 months now (5 treatments so far) on my face, the performance is not even close to the salon laser. The hair does not fall out at all except for the very fine ones that originally did not bother me much. I have some very coarse hairs on my chin (about 10) and some like those on my cheeks, but these won't seem to be affected by the Lumea AT ALL, I mean with shaving now, they are getting stronger although I am using the strongest setting (5) on my light/medium skin and dark brown hair!
The weird thing is that under my arms where the hair is stronger than that on the face, the hair started to fall out in patches (some spots respond quicker on the same area, funny ha!) while on my face, which was the main reason I bought Lumea, it is not working at all. It also did not work on the bikini area, although my skin and hair colour are suitable for treatment with this machine according to the chart.
I just started plucking the hair again when it grows after treatment and applying Vaniqa cream prescribed by my dermatologist to reduce hair growth, and I think I will continue with this or go back to salon laser and sell the Lumea. I am honestly very disappointment
