If your after a big budget Hollywood number then your probably going to end up dissapointed as this is an intimate portrait of a small group of men doing the best they can in difficult circumstances, the group is ill
equiped both in terms of equipment and experience but the situation dictates that they must try to stop or slow the Japanese advance so are sent out to try and hold the line .
The fighting doesnt always goes their way but what inspires them both to keep going and in a particulary poignant scene to 'give up' is genuine friendship even if the main characters are not always friendly in the same manner that we might understand the term in our less extreme circumstances .
This film is a wothy effort to tell a notable and on film at least a under represented chapter in WW2
one of the countless desperate battles fought by Commonwealth forces all over the world in order to slow the Axis forces down and eventually bring about their defeat .
